My recent trip to China and South Korea was an exciting step forward for Pit & Seat and our expansion into international markets. This journey allowed me to explore new opportunities, meet with manufacturers, and refine our product line to ensure we’re offering the best possible experience for our customers.

South Korea: A Growing Barbecue Market

While in South Korea, I had the opportunity to immerse myself in the country’s vibrant barbecue culture. Korean barbecue is a huge part of the dining experience, with specialized cooking equipment being a staple in households and restaurants. This visit reinforced my belief that our BBQ pit could have strong potential in the South Korean market, particularly when paired with our newly developed four-handle cast iron cooking pan. This Korean-style pan complements our Pit & Seat BBQ pit and could be a key entry point for expanding internationally.

China: Strengthening Manufacturer Partnerships

In China, I met with our BBQ fire pit manufacturer to discuss some exciting updates and modifications. We reviewed potential design improvements, ensuring that our product meets high-quality standards while also ppealing to both local and global consumers.

Additionally, I met with the manufacturer of our four-handle cast iron cook pan. I was able to pick up our template prototype and discuss small refinements that could enhance its functionality and performance. This pan has been designed to cater to various global barbecue markets, including the USA and Europe, where similar fire pits are gaining popularity. By integrating our cook pan as a key accessory, we aim to position Pit & Seat as a versatile and innovative outdoor cooking solution.

Cultural Experiences & Building Relationships

A highlight of the trip was the hospitality shown by Sophy, our main contact in China. She not only facilitated key meetings but also took the time to introduce me to some of China’s iconic landmarks, including the Great Wall of China and the Imperial Palace. This was an unforgettable experience and deepened our working relationship, reinforcing the trust and collaboration that will help drive Pit & Seat forward.

Future Plans: Presales and Market Testing

As part of our next steps, we are considering launching a presale or an expression of interest campaign for the four-handle cast iron cook pan. This will allow us to gauge demand, refine our marketing approach, and ensure we’re catering to the right audiences before a full-scale launch.

Additionally, our long-term goal remains to have the Pit & Seat BBQ fire pit stocked in major Australian hardware and camping stores. This is a 12 to 24-month plan, but with our ongoing product development and increasing interest in versatile cooking solutions, we’re confident this goal is within reach.

Looking Ahead

This trip has opened up a world of possibilities for Pit & Seat. By expanding our product line, optimizing designs, and exploring international markets, we are laying the foundation for a brand that offers high-quality, innovative, and accessible barbecue solutions. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue this journey!

Thanks,

Jeff Kendall
